What is GPS? What is GNSS?
GPS stands for Global Positionning System.
Where as GNSS means Global Navigation Satellite System.
GNSS stands for global navigation satellite system. GPS or Global Positioning System and the Russian GLONASS are Global operational GNSS's. In Europe we have Galileo which is expected to come operational from 2016 (read more here>>).
They allow electronic devices that can receive the signal to determine where they are (Longitude, latitude and altitude). This signal is effectively a time signal. NAVSTAR GPS and the Russian GLONASS are both forms of GNSS.
